About the Course
OVERVIEW
The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Performing Arts is a two-year full-time course that provides a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the performing arts, including drama, dance, and singing.
COURSE CONTENT
The diploma covers a wide range of topics to develop students' skills and knowledge in performing arts. Some common units may include acting techniques, physical theatre, multiple dance styles, musical theatre, singing, production planning, and stage management.
ASSESMENT
The diploma is assessed mainly through practical assignments and coursework such as performances, presentations, and written reports. The assessments are designed to reflect the real-life demands of the industry.
PROGRESSION
The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Performing Arts can lead to further study at higher education institutions such as universities or conservatoire colleges. It can also provide a foundation for a career in areas like acting, dance, teaching, directing, or production.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The specific entry requirements are 5 GCSE’s above a level 4 ideally including English and Maths. We do offer the opportunity to resit GCSE Maths and English if required. Also there will be an audition and interview to secure your place at Affinity College.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Graduates with a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Performing Arts can pursue various career paths within the performing arts industry. These may include professional acting, dancing, musical theatre, directing, teaching, choreography, stage management, arts administration, or working in media and entertainment.
Auditions
Our audition process is designed to provide a platform for both group workshop sessions and individual performances, offering a comprehensive assessment of your skills and potential. Our ethos is all about the individual so everyone will have the opportunity to showcase their strengths. We're not seeking perfection; we're looking for potential and a willingness to learn and grow as a performer.
DANCE
You will participate in a short jazz and commercial dance class.
SINGING
There will be a short singing workshop. If singing is one of your strengths, please prepare a song that shows your strengths (no longer than 2 minutes). Please bring a backing track for your song.
ACTING
There will be a short drama workshop. If acting is one of your strengths, please prepare a short monologue ( no longer than 90 seconds). Please bring a copy of your monologue for the panel.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
During the audition, we will have a short chat with you to discuss your performance experience and aims.
